[FYI: We're going to get into some serious baby blogging in the next few months, as we have lots of friends who are expecting and/or recently had babies...]
Our friends Chris and Marla Holliday (friends from Guelph days who are also living in Calgary) recently had an early surprise when their daughter Ruby was born a few weeks early.
They are keeping an up-to-date (and entertaining) blog of her progress, that gives you a good idea of the wonderfully relaxed attitude they have towards the whole ordeal...Chris has a great sense of humour (although I couldn't figure out if his reference to "belly-ruben" was serious or not?)
Anyway, here is their blog: http://chollida.com/blog/
In other baby news, Tannis and Steve are scheduled for their C-section on Friday afternoon, so we are all waiting patiently to meet their new little one. Dave's cycling partner Joe's wife Natasha is also due any day now...
And now that it's common knowledge, we are thrilled that Amy and Jason are due in July: a new baby brother or sister for Nadine!
Other summer babies include Frank and Desiree and Adam and Val!! We look forward to hearing updates about these exciting additions!

Mom and Dad Brewin's trip to the British Virgin Islands
Here are a few photos from Mom and Dad Brewin's recent trip to the British Virgin Islands. They spent 2 weeks sailing the islands with a few other couples, and as you can see from the photos, had an absolutely wonderful time. So glad you had such an amazing trip, and can't wait to hear (and see!) more about it!!

January Update...
(Dave's January Update)
So it turns out I go Beth a camera for her bday and she got me the 'muse'. He's quite handsome I must say. Greyson is now 5lbs, enjoys playing fetch, wet food, grey pretend mice and short bouts of insanity.
Beth and Dave Update:
Weather: A Chinook is blowing through town so the weather is warm today.
Sports and Leisure: We have been out skiing a few times since we saw you and my sister is in town this weekend so we'll take her out on the slopes again. Bethany is turning into quite the expert snow boarder. I'm still coming to grips with the speed she likes to go down the hill (mostly because my toes get cold waiting) but her technique is top notch and she will likely not hurt herself. Fun thing, on Thursday I am going to the gun range to shoot handguns with my friend Joe. He is Calgarian by birth and enjoys the 'cowboy culture' as he calls it and I am game to try. Hockey and vball are keeping me active during the week while Beth hits yoga class and plans fun events with "the girls". We've been also hitting the weights together since the holidays as I gained weight and Beth lost weight so we are trying to trade. It's also time to start on the indoor bike training so I dont lose all that I worked on last year. I think I'll be aiming to do some shorter (3hr vs. 7day) mountain bike races this summer to stay competitive. Apparently sports and leisure make up a large part of the excitement around here.
House and Crafts: Beth has been making some fun cards lately with her stamp clubbers..the Valentine's '09 collection are quite nice. No new furniture projects for me: A tragedy occurred as the dining room table now has a big crack down the middle of it. Apparently wood harvested in BC has a high moisture content and if you build furniture out of it in Calgary (a desert climate) it sometimes warps violently as it dries. My furniture expert buddy is going to have a look at it to see if it is fixable. I'm ordering new windows and doors for the house which I will have installed just in time for summer.
Trips: Everyone is excited for harman and shan's wedding in Mexico which along side our 2 week Ontario trip (A'burg, Algonquin, Ottawa, Reunion) in Aug look to be our vacations for the year. My parents are currently in the British Virgin Islands sailing a 51ft boat around with a few other couples (unguided) sounds like a blast!

Starting the New Year in Fernie
We spent this weekend in Fernie--our usual favourite spot to ski/snowboard in the winter.
We have always been lucky with lots of snow and great ski days with friends in Fernie, and this time was no exception.
It has definitely been chilly in Calgary lately, and Fernie shared this cold weather, with temperatures in the -15 to -25c range for most of the weekend. Despite being covered head to toe, it did make for shorter days on the hill (for me at least!) to allow time to defrost our fingers and toes at the end of the day!
We rented a chalet on the hill: ski-in/ski-out with a hot tub, and it turned out that the owner was a colleague of Dave's from the Health Region, so we were certain to behave ourselves!
Another wonderful weekend, and a great way to start off the ski season!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!
Once again, this time of year causes us to reflect on all of the blessings of the past year: the love and support of family and friends, and all of the amazing experiences we have shared in 2008.
We look forward to another year of peace and happiness, and again thank everyone for all of the joy they have brought to our lives.
We hope you also reflect fondly on the past year, and wish you every happiness in the year to come.
